Grooming your dog can be tricky, especially in wet and windy weather conditions. It can seem that as soon as they step outside, they’re covered in mud and wet walks can become a regular occurrence. However, it’s really important that you stay on top of your pooch’s grooming routine to make sure that they stay clean, fresh and comfortable – especially if you want to make sure your pooch doesn’t mess up your house too! Here’s everything we recommend to make sure grooming your dog is a breeze this winter…

1.Dog Shampoo

Let’s start with the obvious. In order to keep your pooch fresh and clean, you’ll need a good quality dog shampoo to remove all of that dirt and mud. This Pretty Pooch Oatmeal shampoo has been formulated for sensitive skin and is the perfect addition for dogs that suffer from any dryness. We also recommended that you always have specific shampoo on hand for removing animal poo from your dog’s fur. It’s fairly common for dogs to roll themselves in animal poo on walks and therefore, we highly recommend that you have a shampoo in your home that will break down the faeces and the nasty odour to keep your pooch smelling fresh.

2. Dog Brush

It’s important that all dogs are brushed regularly to make sure any knots are removed and matting is kept at bay. If your pooch isn’t regularly brushed, matting and knots in their fur can start to hurt your pooch as the fur pulls on their delicate skin. With winter bringing more extreme weather conditions, matting and knots can become more common. With your pooch’s fur getting wet and covered in mud, once the hair dries, it can tend to dry knotted and this can cause some extreme discomfort for your pooch. Make sure that you have a grooming brush that’s specially designed for the breed of your pooch and regular brush their fur.
